1. What Are Our Opening Hours?

Monday 7.30am to 7.00pm

2. Is there parking available?

East Melbourne:The closest intersection is Albert and Lansdowne Streets. One to four hour street parking is available on Albert Street, Lansdowne Street and Victoria Parade (fees apply). Secured undercover parking is available on Albert Street (near Gisborne St) or at St Vincents Private / Freemasons Hospitals on Victoria Parade (fees apply).

Armadale: On street parking is available in surrounding streets.

3. Is there public transport access?

East Melbourne: The closest train station is Parliament Station (Spring and Nicholson Street). Trams (24 & 109) run along Victoria Parade to Lansdowne Street.

A tram ride to High Street Armadale takes approximately 20 minutes from the City

The No. 6 Glen Iris tram to High Street Armadale frequently leaves from Swanston Street in the City

You will need to purchase a Zone 1 ticket

By Train
A train trip to High Street Armadale takes approximately 10 minutes from the City

You can get to Armadale Station on the Frankston, Pakenham or Cranbourne lines

Trains frequently leave the city from Flinders Street station, or from other stations on the City Loop (Parliament, Melbourne Central, Flagstaff and Southern Cross Stations)

4. Do I need a doctor’s referral?

Private clients do not need a doctor’s referral to consult a physiotherapist. However for Work Cover, TAC or Department of Veteran Affairs clients a doctor’s referral is required.

5. How long do the classes go for?

Classes usually go for 45 minutes to 1 hour.

6. Can I bring my baby and/or toddler to class?

Babies and children are very welcome at Fitwise but remain the responsibility of their parent at all times. There is a baby change facility on level 3 which we ask our clients to utilize, for the comfort of others.

7. What do I need to bring to class?

You don’t need to bring anything with you. Water is supplied, as are mats and exercise equipment used in the classes.

8. What should I wear to class?

Whatever you are comfortable to exercise in. Leggings or track pants, a t-shirt and runners for most classes. No shoes are required for the Pilates classes although socks with grip on the bottoms are very handy.

9. Cancellation/Missed Appointment

Late cancellations and missed appointments exclude others from receiving treatment. Therefore, we request that if you are unable to make a consultation or class that you let us know as early as possible and at least 24 hours prior to your appointment. We have an answering machine for after hour’s messages.

In the event a late cancellation occurs classes will be invoiced at the full fee. A 50% cancellation fee will be applied to consultations.

A missed appointment will be treated in the same way as a late cancellation.

10. Is there a fee for my Consultation or Class?

All classes and consultation appointments at Fitwise Physiotherapy have an associated fee.

Our fee schedule is displayed in the waiting room. Alternatively, speak to our receptionstaff who can advise the current fees associated with different services.

Full payment is expected at the time of consultation/class. We accept cash, cheques, EFTPOS and credit card payments(including AMEX). Physiotherapy consultations are eligible for rebate through your private health cover extras. We can process your private health insurance rebate through HICAPS at the time of payment for most appointments.

If utilizing our ‘5’ or ‘10’ class pack special, the fee must be paid at the first class. These packs are non-refundable but may be transferred to a different class where available.

11. Out of Hours Appointments

Emergency appointments at Fitwise Physiotherapy, outside of our usual operating hours, will attract a 50% surcharge.

12. Can I Claim My Private Health Insurance Rebate at My Appointment?

We can process your private health insurance rebate through HICAPS at the time of payment for most appointments. Private health rebates can only be claimed after the service has been received. Therefore your ‘5’ or ‘10’ class pack rebate can only be claimed through your health fund at the completion of the pack.

13. Are my Physiotherapy appointments claimable through Medicare?

Unfortunately, for most physiotherapy appointments, you cannot claim a Medicare rebate. However, under some special circumstances your GP may place you under a special care program (known as an EPC or GPMP). You can then be referred for up to five allied health services each calendar year. It is important to understand that only your GP will decide whether you should be referred for these services.

At each appointment you must still pay the full fee for the service but you will be given a special receipt, which allows you to claim the Medicare rebate directly from Medicare. It is important to understand that you will still be out of pocket a ‘gap’ amount, which cannot be claimed through your private health insurance.
